Acute Front Line Treatment and the Window of Opportunity
Consensus was expressed strongly for immediate or front line homeopathic treatment.
Research has shown that antecedent CSR is the greatest predictor of PTSD onset and delayed PTSD (Horesh, Solomon, Zerach 2011).The respondents held the opinion that homeopathic potential is not just in addressing deeper underlying levels, but possesses an ability to circumvent in cases of Combat Stress Reaction, potential enduring sequelae of Combat PTSD and delayed onset CPTSD if administered promptly on the battlefield or shortly after.
(Solomon, Shkaler, Mikulincer 2005, Rubinstein 2012) brought to attention the critical ‘window of opportunity’ associated with successful results in treatment; the longer the time lapse the more severe the condition and its prognosis.
Acute Trauma Remedies
The homeopaths shared the opinion that a group of acknowledged acute trauma remedies could be administered immediately on the front line, even by army medics or in the emergency ward, satisfying the basic tenets of ‘like treats like’ without taking full case histories.
Homeopathy was used successfully for civilian war related acute trauma in Israel during the 2nd Lebanon War 2006, (Marcovits, 2011, 2014, Buchimensky, 2014) and the Gaza War 2008, (Buchimensky, 2014). Although civilians suffer different trauma structures, the acute remedies used were within the acknowledged homeopathic acute trauma range also suggested by the respondents for Combat Stress Reaction.
The simplicity of giving acute homeopathic remedies, generally a few pills under the tongue with minimal observation required and their cost efficiency as compared to other methods could render it a valuable complement to other interventions in war scenarios.
